Advanced Praise for the Mission Metro (Pre-orders start today)

Mission Bicycle Company is proud to unveil our newest bicycle, the Metro: an externally geared bike designed for all riding scenarios. At the same time.

The Development

We're constantly exploring new ways to sell bikes. We ask, "What do we think our customers think they want?" The answer? More. We've combined every convenience and amenity ever needed in one bike.

The Bike

36 Gears Whether your headed to yoga or the farmer's market, you'll be able to dial in the perfect gear. The Metro features 3 shifters: Two handlebar mounted twist shifters with microSHIFT technology, plus a single ergonomic down tube shifter for when that's convenient. Whenever that is.

Each shifter controls 12 unique gears out of the 36. The Metro comes with an elaborate shifting chart for reference.

Night Riding The Metro comes equipped with 12 reflectors, to ensure that you're slightly visible in an already well lit environment.

Inclement Weather You're also prepared for rain with full coverage fenders. What we sacrifice in weight we gain in durability with HiTensil steel blades, brackets, braze-ons and stabilizers. And since they're permanently bolted on, they're guaranteed to be rattle-free, 365 days a year.

Full coverage fenders and portage rack, in matching blue, bolted permanently to the frame. There when you need 'em, there when you don't.

Quicker Quick Release™ Unlike your bolt-on fenders and rack, nearly everything else on the bike is instantly removable with our Quicker Quick Release, It's the quickest™. Wheels, saddle, handlebars, even cranks - all gone in an instant.

With the Quicker Quick Release™ even the crank arm can be removed in an instant.

Hydration We've installed two stylish 24oz water bottle cages for those long city rides to the cinema, as you may need 48oz of fluid replacement. Pro tip: don't forget the electrolytes.

The Shocker™ We've developed a brand new feature for a unprecedented level of comfort. The Metro comes with a shock on the fork and an easy and immediate way to control the amount of needed shock absorption.

A second hand lever, just above the brake lever, allows you to pump air into or release air out of the shock. All this can be done instantly in real time. Big pothole up ahead? No worries. Just pump up The Shocker™.

The Shocker™ hand pump and innovative cable system.

To ensure your comfort, the Metro is outfitted with a wide spring loaded gel seat, and big fat squishy tires.

Soft squishy tires for added comfort

Off The Bike At 42lbs you may find it tricky to get this bike up a flight of stairs to your apartment, so we built not one, but two kickstands into the frame to keep the Metro upright over night.

Sizing The Metro will fit like a glove in one of two convenient sizes, small and large.

For Immediate Release - Mission Bicycle is recalling all Metro bicycles sold since April 1.

Just kidding. There never was a Mission Metro, and no we didn't sell any.

The Metro was our little jab at what the bike industry often markets as a city bike. That bike may be for some, but it's not for us. While there are many different ideas about what a bike should be, or weigh, or cost, we can all agree that any bike is better than no bike.

Throw your leg over whatever bike you want. You have our support. Just don't trust an email from us on April 1.
