Design Cycle Begins July 21

On a Wednesday in 2005, Matthew Passmore and his SF design studio Rebar converted a single parking space into a temporary park. For a few hours asphalt was replaced by grass, and the car by conversation. Eight years later “parklets” dot streets around the world and have changed the way we think about public space.

Join us, July 21st as we welcome Matthew to explore urban prototyping, an emerging movement to reimagine public space.

Come Early. At 6pm the urban proto-parklet-party begins. We're building a parklet for the night with bubbleware, a modular music stage, bicycle powered food and more. Open to all.

At 7pm we move inside. Matthew takes the stage at the beautiful Brava Theater Center [map] to present urban prototyping and the innovative ways Rebar continues to challenge our engagement with civic space.

Exclusive pre-sale tickets are available to you, our friends and family, starting today for only $15. General sale and a price bump begin next week, so grab your seats now.

Matthew Passmore is an artist, urban explorer and public space advocate. He's a founder and principal at Rebar and lectures around the world on improving the quality of the public realm.
